Analog Modules, Inc. (AMI) is preparing to introduce its next-generation Model 744DP Laser Spot Tracker Module in Q1 2027, offering a compact design and multiple configuration options for missile and platform tracker applications.
Building on 55 years of Laser Spot Tracker (LST) design experience, the Model 744DP provides azimuth and elevation data for tracked targets, combining high sensitivity, a wide linear dynamic range and adaptive noise tracking thresholds.
Measuring 1.96 inches in diameter by 1.21 inches, the module is optimized for a 1.06 µm wavelength and tracks NATO STANAG 3733 and Pulse Repetition Frequency (PRF) codes. Additional features include a wide field of view, sunlight tolerance, a heated detector for stable performance and rangefinding capability with an external T0 signal. The design is also optimized for Size, Weight, Power and Cost (SWaP-C).
The module incorporates a temperature-controlled silicon PIN detector, available in two standard sizes with active areas of 5.33 mm or 14.1 mm. Independent five-channel noise detectors set the lowest thresholds to achieve long acquisition ranges under different background light conditions and spot positions. Special circuits also resist sunlight blinding in any one or all quadrants.
The detector and its built-in front-end electronics are enclosed in a hermetically sealed can. The can is mounted to a compact two-board stack containing analog and digital processing circuits. Individual channels are digitized using a high-speed analog-to-digital converter and output through a serial digital interface for azimuth and elevation steering, normalized independently of signal strength.
Adaptive threshold control supports optimum signal-to-noise operation, while user commands allow adjustment of gain, thresholds, tracking logic, acquisition rules, PRF codes and PIM sequences.
Multiple configurations can be offered, including a mechanical housing with optics and a narrowband filter for a complete plug-and-play Semi-Active Laser (SAL) seeker module.
