Volatus Aerospace has established a strategic partnership with Singular Aircraft S.L. to introduce the FlyOx 1 multi-mission, heavy-lift autonomous aircraft into Canada while evaluating domestic manufacturing, systems integration, operational deployment, and long-term in-country support.
The agreement establishes Volatus as Singular’s Canadian Strategic Partner, with the companies intending to advance a sovereign Canadian capability supporting wildfire response, emergency management, public safety, and other government applications.
The FlyOx 1 platform represents a new class of autonomous aircraft designed for wildfire response, emergency management, public safety, logistics, and other government applications. With a maximum takeoff weight of approximately 4,000 kilograms and the ability to carry 1,560 liters of water or fire retardant, or other mission payloads, the platform features long endurance, amphibious functionality, fully automatic takeoff and landing, and the ability to operate from unprepared airstrips. According to Singular, documented flight operations for the aircraft have been conducted under the oversight of five national civil and military aviation authorities across four continents, including demonstrated aerial water discharge.

The initiative aligns with Volatus’ broader strategy to advance sovereign Canadian autonomous aerospace capability by integrating aircraft platforms, operational services, domestic manufacturing, and mission management technologies supporting public safety, emergency management, and other government missions. Volatus has begun engaging Canadian governments, regulators, and wildfire management organizations to evaluate operational requirements, certification pathways, and future demonstration opportunities, though any Canadian deployment remains subject to Transport Canada approvals and the successful completion of technical, operational, and regulatory evaluations.
