D-Fend Solutions has been acquired by Motorola Solutions for a purchase price of $1.5 billion, giving the company’s public safety and enterprise customers access to advanced counter-drone technology.
D-Fend’s Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS) are designed to safely neutralize unauthorized drones, with its technology already deployed across airports, critical infrastructure, stadiums, military bases, and borders in more than 30 countries.
Unlike traditional counter-drone methods that rely on kinetic force or simple detection paired with jamming, D-Fend’s RF cyber-takeover technology identifies and surgically takes control of rogue drones before directing them to land safely in designated zones. The approach is designed to resolve threats without disrupting local communications infrastructure for authorized drones, while avoiding collateral damage and operational shutdowns.

Motorola Solutions plans to integrate D-Fend’s technology into its broader public safety ecosystem to deliver comprehensive air-to-ground security. The integrated capability is designed to equip front-line teams with situational awareness while allowing operators to evaluate risks and, where permitted, safely mitigate unauthorized drones.
Under the new structure, Zohar Halachmi will continue as CEO of D-Fend Solutions while serving as senior vice president, Counter-Drone Solutions at Motorola Solutions.
