Getac Technology Corporation has expanded its 8-inch fully rugged device lineup with the introduction of two lightweight Windows 11 tablets powered by energy-efficient ARM architecture.

The ZX80W and ZX80W-EX are engineered on Qualcomm’s QCS6490 platform to provide high performance-per-watt within a fanless chassis. By leveraging ARM architecture, the devices deliver full Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC functionality, offering enterprise security and application compatibility alongside extended battery performance for remote field operations. System memory is provided by 12GB of onboard LPDDR5 RAM, paired with 256GB of universal flash storage.

On-device artificial intelligence functionality is driven by a 6th Generation Qualcomm AI Engine featuring a Hexagon NPU. This edge hardware enables real-time analytics, automated processing, and rapid data recognition directly on the device, reducing reliance on cloud connectivity in areas with limited signal. Intended applications include UAV flight control within the utilities sector, predictive asset management, and electronic logging devices for transport and logistics operations.

Both models feature daylight-readable displays and are certified to MIL-STD-810H and IP67 standards, offering resistance to vibration and drops from heights of up to 6ft (1.8m). The standard ZX80W weighs 590g and operates in temperatures from -29°C to +63°C (-20°F to +145°F). For hazardous or potentially explosive environments, the 780g ZX80W-EX operates from -21°C to 55°C (-5.8°F to 131°F) and holds ATEX/IECEx Zone 2/22 certification. Mechanical enhancements on the EX variant include 0.6mm thicker display glass, an upgraded back cover for impact resistance, a secure port cover over the main docking connector, and mylar seals across exposed screw covers.

James Hwang, President of Getac Technology Corporation, said, “Effective digital transformation requires extending the enterprise core directly into the field. The ZX80W series is engineered to support this vision. By delivering a compact 8-inch form factor with the proven efficiency of Windows on ARM, we are helping organizations bridge the gap between traditional IT infrastructure and frontline operations. From standard fieldwork to hazardous environments, we are equipping our customers with a versatile tool that maximizes mobility while upholding strict enterprise security and performance standards.”

The ZX80W and ZX80W-EX are scheduled to become available in July 2026 for deployment across the defence, utilities, and transport & logistics sectors.
