Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has introduced a specialized Aviation Cybersecurity Certificate Program to address the growing sophistication of cyber threats targeting the aviation industry.

Embry-Riddle Launches Aviation Cybersecurity Training & Certification

Developed by the university’s Worldwide Office of Professional Education, the curriculum is designed for both emerging and experienced professionals. The program provides focused, practical instruction intended to help participants understand and mitigate vulnerabilities unique to aviation environments, including the security of aviation Internet of Things (IoT) systems.

The coursework covers several technical focus areas, including core cybersecurity principles, the identification of industry-specific threat actors, and the implementation of defense strategies for sensitive data networks. Students are trained to develop risk assessment skills and effectively communicate cybersecurity solutions within complex organizational structures.

The certificate is delivered through a flexible, fully online format consisting of four asynchronous courses. Each course is priced at $599 and includes structured assignments and engagement through discussion boards and projects. The sequence begins with CBR 1000, which introduces foundational concepts and threat landscapes, followed by CBR 1010, a detailed examination of IoT functionality and vulnerabilities. The final two courses, CBR 1020 and CBR 1030, focus specifically on aviation-unique challenges, risk assessment strategies, and the tools used to combat cyber risks.

Ron Garriga, Executive Director of Worldwide Business Development and the Office of Professional Education at Embry-Riddle, “Embry-Riddle is at the forefront of cybersecurity, preparing the next generation of innovators with advanced expertise and forward-thinking insights to protect an increasingly dynamic digital landscape. Rooted in our strong aerospace and technical heritage, our programs equip professionals to proactively identify and mitigate emerging threats, strengthening resilience across vital industries. At Embry-Riddle, we’re not simply educating in cybersecurity — we’re shaping its future.”

This initiative leverages the university’s aerospace and technical background to provide a strategic pathway for professionals tasked with protecting mission-critical infrastructure. The program aims to ensure that participants can apply industry best practices to secure aviation networks against evolving digital threats.
