ZenaTech has introduced the IQ Quad, an autonomous Vertical Take-off and Landing (VTOL) AI drone designed specifically for high-precision surveying and mapping applications.
Developed by subsidiary ZenaDrone, the new medium-class enterprise quadcopter is engineered to serve the construction, real estate development, urban planning, and public works sectors.
The platform is designed to produce professional-grade land maps and 3D terrain models by collecting highly accurate geospatial data. IQ Quad features a durable, weather-resistant carbon fiber airframe with folding arms to facilitate portability and storage.
Technical specifications include a flight endurance of up to 45 minutes, an operational range of 5 km, and a payload capacity of 2–3 kg.
To ensure safety and performance in complex environments, the drone is equipped with 360-degree situational awareness cameras, advanced obstacle detection, and terrain-following sensors. It also supports autonomous recharging capabilities via a dedicated landing station.
The IQ Quad is compatible with a variety of interchangeable survey equipment, supporting a range of high-resolution sensors, such as 4K cameras, LiDAR, thermal sensors, and multispectral sensors. This versatility allows the platform to capture detailed aerial data across diverse environments, aimed at enhancing or replacing traditional surveying workflows with drone-enriched data insights.
Shaun Passley, Ph.D., ZenaTech CEO, commented, “This launch represents a meaningful step forward in our strategy to deliver purpose-built autonomous AI solutions for high-value, data-intensive industries. Land surveying is a large, growing and underserved market, where speed, accuracy, and repeatability are critical, and the IQ Quad was engineered by ZenaDrone from the ground up to meet those exact requirements.
“We believe the IQ Quad will significantly improve the productivity of our survey professionals while strengthening our vertically integrated Drone as a Service platform and meaningfully expanding recurring revenue opportunities.”
Over the coming weeks, the company intends to deploy the IQ Quad across select Drone as a Service locations for on-site integration and testing before a wider rollout across its United States and international Drone as a Service (DaaS) network.
The introduction of the IQ Quad aligns with ZenaTech’s broader DaaS strategy, which involves acquiring established service businesses and upgrading them with advanced drone technology, automation and data analytics. This model currently supports 19 locations in the US and three international sites, providing on-demand drone solutions that modernize industries ranging from precision agriculture to infrastructure maintenance.
