A new strategic partnership between Voliro and MontiPower® will integrate advanced mechanical surface preparation technology with Voliro’s aerial robotics platform.
Voliro, a pioneer in aerial robotics for contact-based inspection, maintenance, and repair of industrial assets at height, is collaborating with MontiPower, an innovator in mechanical surface preparation. This integration is designed to set a new benchmark in industrial maintenance by enabling safe, efficient, and repeatable surface treatment operations in locations previously considered dangerous, costly, or impossible to access.
The collaboration will fully integrate MontiPower’s Bristle Blaster® and MBX® technologies with the Voliro T aerial robotic platform. The Voliro T platform provides consistent pressure, precise tool orientation, and autonomous workflows for industrial assets at height.
The combined solution allows operators to perform certified surface treatment without the need for scaffolding, lifts, or rope access, even in constrained environments. It is engineered to achieve uniform and repeatable surface preparation by utilizing Voliro’s adaptive force-control and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-guided positioning. The integration is expected to increase worker safety by removing personnel from high-risk zones and reduce downtime and total maintenance cost through faster deployment and more consistent results.
The integrated robotic surface treatment system is aimed at sectors including oil and gas, marine, renewable energy, heavy industry, and critical infrastructure assets.
Frits Doddema, CEO of MontiPower, commented on the development, stating, “Integrating MontiPower’s world-class surface treatment systems with Voliro’s aerial robotic platform allows us to expand our reach beyond ground level more readily, and deliver our same level of quality to customers with a hands-free application that protects high surfaces in a safer and more efficient way. For the first time, precision surface preparation can be performed in places previously inaccessible, unsafe, or uneconomical. The future of industrial maintenance has arrived.”
The Voliro platform will also enable automated documentation and quality assurance by capturing treatment parameters, tool contact data, and digital proof-of-work for asset owners and regulators.
Florian Gutzwiller, CEO of Voliro, stated, “This collaboration is an important step in Voliro’s progression toward enabling a full array of inspection, maintenance, and repair services at height. Voliro has already redefined how NDT inspections can be conducted on the world’s industrial assets, and by integrating MontiPower’s industry-leading surface preparation tools onto the Voliro platform, our combined solution greatly expands the applications for which aerial robotics can be deployed.”
The integrated MontiPower–Voliro aerial surface treatment solution is expected to be available for early access in the first quarter of 2026.
