Canadian UAVs, a developer of professional Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) drone solutions and services for civil, commercial, and military applications, has introduced new 12- and 18-month lease programs, along with a flexible rental option, for its Sparrowhawk Detect-and-Avoid (DAA) radar systems.

Lease & Rental Options

  • 12 month lease
  • 18 month lease
  • 3 month rental (min)

These new programs support operators looking to minimize upfront capital expenditure (CapEx) and leverage their operational expenditure (OpEx) budgets to integrate the Sparrowhawk radar into BVLOS operations more cost-effectively and with accelerated deployment timelines.

This approach provides rapid deployment of a scalable solution, adaptable to a wide range of mission requirements.

Sparrowhawk DAA ground-based radar supports BVLOS missions in the following industries:

  • Oil & Gas, Utilities and Mining
  • Police, Fire, Emergency Services, Coast Guard and Border Patrol
  • Army, Navy and Air Forces
  • Logistics and Cargo
  • Security and Surveillance
  • Airports and Vertiports
  • Wildlife

Sparrowhawk employs computer vision algorithms, supported by ADS-B, to provide an integrated airspace picture with advanced situational awareness. A single radar unit can cover up to 1,500km², delivering extensive operational coverage for BVLOS operations. Networked radars can cover entire metropolitan cities and create safe Advanced Air mobility (AAM) corridors.

Sparrowhawk DAA is a portable radar system, which can be deployed on mid-sized vehicles or simply a tripod, overcoming the size and weight limitations typically associated with ground based DAA radars.

The radar provides comprehensive 360-degree coverage during the day and night, within diverse weather conditions. Sparrowhawk can detect and filter weather effectively, including rain, snow, smoke, fog, and birds.

Advantages of Sparrowhawk DAA radar system

  • Cost: lowest on the market
  • POV: 360°
  • Range: 12nm (22km) – 1,500km² (600 miles²) area
  • Altitude: 5,000 ft
  • Flexibility: fixed/ semi-permanent/ mobile
  • Configuration: single/ networked
  • Tracking: 90% – 99.99%
  • Multi-sensor fusion (multiple Radars/ADS-B)
  • Multiple RPAS clients at the same time
