PlanBlue is forming a strategic partnership with Bedrock Ocean Exploration to provide a new generation of actionable ocean data, accelerating infrastructure development, supporting maritime security, strengthening coastal resilience, and promoting environmental stewardship.
This collaboration combines the company’s Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven seafloor intelligence and analytics with Bedrock’s advanced autonomous survey technology, speeding the transformation of raw data into actionable insight.
PlanBlue’s AI-enhanced hyperspectral imaging turns seafloor data into actionable intelligence, providing environmental insights, such as ecosystem health, biodiversity, carbon stocks, and habitat classification, as well as advanced material detection for infrastructure assessments and maritime security, all in a single mission. This integration significantly enhances speed and cost-efficiency for environmental monitoring and related applications.
Bedrock operates a fleet of compact, fully electric Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs), capturing high-resolution bathymetry with minimal environmental footprint. Through its Mosaic platform, the company provides direct access to survey data with real-time quality control and rapid cloud delivery.
Dr. Hannah Brocke, Co-founder and CSO of PlanBlue, stated, “We are excited to partner with Bedrock to bring seafloor intelligence to the forefront of sustainable marine development. Harnessing Bedrock’s agile platform together with PlanBlue’s underwater hyperspectral imaging and its automated analytics will help clients make better decisions, reduce environmental impacts, and drive progress toward healthier oceans.”
Charles, CEO of Bedrock, added, “This partnership is an important milestone in our mission to deliver scalable, high-fidelity ocean intelligence, and stress test our rapid ability to field new payloads and capabilities with our platforms. By embedding PlanBlue’s payload and analytics into our survey ecosystem, we can provide clients with not just data, but insight, faster, cleaner, and with lower risk to marine ecosystems.”
This new partnership enables clients in offshore wind, subsea cable and pipeline routing, port development, coastal protection and maritime security to access critical environmental and operational information more quickly and efficiently.
Both companies emphasize that this collaboration reflects a shared commitment to reducing the ecological footprint of marine development while supporting global initiatives, such as the UN Decade of Ocean Science.
