WISPR Systems is launching the SkyScout 2 and SkyScout 2+, the latest evolution of its flagship SkyScout quadcopter platform designed to deliver greater performance, resilience, and operator control.

The SkyScout 2 and SkyScout 2+ introduce several key enhancements to improve capability and reliability. The new S Port quick-attach system streamlines payload integration by combining power and data into a single interface, while also enabling an increased payload capacity of 3.65 lbs. (1.65 kg) without reducing flight time. To support operations in challenging environments, the TempGuard Dynamic Climate Control system regulates airflow to maintain optimal component temperatures in both extreme heat and cold.

Power management has also been upgraded through the SmartCore Smart Power Distribution System, which delivers clean, reliable power with redundant management and built-in safeguards against battery failures for maximum flight safety. For flight accuracy, the Precision Terrain Follow system, powered by WISPR’s TerrainSense technology, provides precise altitude control, supporting high-altitude terrain mapping and ensuring reliable low-altitude navigation in areas where GPS and barometers are less effective.

Safety features have been expanded with PathGuard, a long-range obstacle detection system equipped with front and rear sensors capable of detecting objects up to 164 feet away. This helps protect the aircraft during mapping missions and manual flight by keeping both forward paths and return routes clear. In addition, SignalShield advanced EMI shielding protects avionics from electromagnetic interference, enabling safe flight near power lines, cell towers, and other potential sources of disruption without compromising control, reliability, or data integrity.

The SkyScout 2+ includes additional features with the introduction of the WISPR SkyBoss smart controller. This controller integrates a sunlight-readable 7-inch display with 2000-nit brightness in a rugged design that meets MIL-STD-810 drop standards and IP55 weather protection. It also supports secure AES-256 encrypted transmission, ensuring mission integrity. With multiple roll wheels, hot-swappable batteries, and up to six hours of runtime, the controller is designed to give operators extended control and flexibility in the field.

John McArthur, VP of sales and marketing at WISPR Systems, commented, “SkyScout 2 represents a leap forward in precision drone technology. From advanced collision avoidance to IP-tested durability and robust health monitoring, these upgrades give professionals the confidence to fly further, safer and more efficiently.

“With SkyScout 2+, we wanted to reimagine not only the aircraft but the operator experience. Our new controller, the WISPR SkyBoss, empowers professionals to work faster, longer and with the confidence that only WISPR innovation can provide.”

The SkyScout 2 is available now, and the SkyScout 2+ will be available in early October through WISPR Systems and authorized distributors.
