Kongsberg Geospatial has sold its Integrated Simulation (I-SIM) software suite to ATAC.
The I-SIM system, a proven radar-based Air Traffic Control (ATC) simulation solution, has served as a critical tool in airspace management training and operational testing for over two decades.
Since its inception for the FAA Civil Aerospace Medical Institute (CAMI) in 1998, I-SIM has been trusted by the FAA for Human-In-The-Loop (HITL) ATC simulations, enabling controllers to test new procedures and engage in high-fidelity training across various operational scenarios. With I-SIM, ATC professionals gain the hands-on, real-world experience needed to address today’s complex airspace environments.
The acquisition will integrate Kongsberg Geospatial’s innovative simulation capabilities with ATAC’s 45+ years of experience in air traffic simulation and analysis, further enhancing I-SIM’s effectiveness for FAA, NASA, the U.S. Navy, and academic training programs. This synergy will help to sustain I-SIM as the premier radar-based ATC simulation platform, supporting ATAC’s goal of delivering top-tier aviation modeling, simulation, and airspace training solutions to meet critical industry needs.
Jordan Freed, President of Kongsberg Geospatial, said; “Kongsberg Geospatial has always focused on developing reliable, high-performance simulation and visualization tools that enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of our users.
“This acquisition allows I-SIM to continue its legacy as an integral ATC training and simulation solution, benefitting from ATAC’s extensive experience and commitment to the aviation community.”
With this acquisition, Kongsberg Geospatial will continue to focus on its core mission of delivering mission-critical situational awareness solutions for defense, aerospace, and unmanned systems. The company’s portfolio, including the TerraLens SDK, powers a range of high-performance systems deployed across defense and commercial applications worldwide.
