Event 38 Unmanned Systems has achieved a significant milestone with the recent FAA approval of their E455 VTOL fixed-wing drone for Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations over a hundred miles of pipeline. This clearance paves the way for more efficient and extensive pipeline inspections.

The NDAA 848-compliant E455 is now authorized to operate autonomously without constant visual oversight. This capability enables the drone to cover vast distances, reducing inspection time and costs.

Key features include:

  • Long-Range BVLOS Capabilities: The E455’s ability to fly for extended periods and carry a variety of payloads makes it ideal for large-scale pipeline inspections.
  • Heavy Payload Capacity: The drone can accommodate a wide range of sensors and equipment, including high-resolution cameras, LiDAR scanners, and magnetometers.
  • Customizable Payload Integration: The E455’s modular design allows for easy integration of specialized payloads to meet specific inspection requirements.

The E455 is equipped with advanced autopilot technology and redundant systems to ensure safe and reliable operations. Its robust construction and weather resistance make it suitable for challenging field conditions.

Commenting on this achievement Jeff Taylor, Founder and CEO of Event 38 Unmanned Systems said, “We are thrilled to achieve this groundbreaking BVLOS waiver. The E455’s ability to carry advanced sensors and meaningful payloads for extended periods showcases its full potential.”
