Mavoljic Technology PM1080-GS-30 UAS cameraMavoljic Technology, a developer of imaging technologies for autonomous systems, has announced the launch of its new PM1080-GS-30 camera, which the company claims is the world’s lightest Full HD 30x optical zoom global shutter camera at 150 grams. The new camera is designed to deliver high-resolution stable jello-free video for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The PM1080-GS-30 outputs compressed H.264 video at 1920x1080p resolution over Ethernet. It provides a field of view of approximately 59° to 2°, and supports the use of a low-resolution analog secondary video stream.

Jigar Pasad, founder of Mavoljic Technology, commented: “High-zoom rolling shutter cameras do not work well when it comes to UAVs. High-frequency vibrations on UAVs give rise to artifacts and jello from rolling shutter cameras. This problem only gets intensified as you zoom in, narrowing your field of view. Jello due to rolling shutters not only affects visual experience, but also reduces compression efficiency. Moreover, it also hampers the robustness of image processing algorithms.”
