  • Finding the perfect match between an image sensors and optics is a task that is both complex and time consuming. Internet-based Webinars, tutorials, and white papers provide guidelines in finding suitable optics and help engineers in this complex task. Yet, the optical performance of a vision system comes from the right combination of optics and image sensors, and very few sources of information on the guidelines to properly design an optical system starting from the image sensor exist today.

In this session, Teledyne e2v will highlight the main parameters of image sensors that can impact the optical performance of vision systems. A focus will be made on the technical tricks and solutions used by image sensor manufacturers to tune the optical performance of sensors and how that can impact the choice of optics. Leveraging their image sensor expertise, Teledyne e2v will then present some useful tips to improve the optical performance of the  lens and image sensor combination. The session will conclude with an overview of existing solutions to minimize the efforts of vision system makers in their optical design, such as turnkey optical modules and innovative focus adjustment solutions.
