The Kaonic 1S from Beechat Network Systems is a software-defined radio module and development kit designed to provide low-latency command and control, decentralized mesh networking, and encrypted communications for UAVs, UGVs, and other unmanned systems.
Built around a dual-transceiver architecture, the Kaonic 1S supports operation across sub-GHz and 2.4 GHz bands, with optional frequency extension from 300 to 2000 MHz via the Kaonic FRX. The system is designed for flexible integration into tactical and commercial platforms, supporting advanced multi-band MIMO configurations, MAVLink telemetry, ATAK integration, and encrypted geospatial messaging.
The radio runs Yocto Linux on an STM32MP1 processor and incorporates the Reticulum mesh protocol, enabling encrypted networking across up to 128 hops. Additional capabilities include secure boot, hardware cryptographic acceleration, signed over-the-air firmware updates, and frequency-hopping HopSync.
Designed for demanding operating environments, the Kaonic 1S is MIL-STD-461 compliant and can be supplied with an optional rugged, shock-resistant IP67 enclosure for protection against dust and moisture.
