About Microgrids & Energy Resilience Summit 2026

The 3rd Annual Microgrids & Energy Resilience Summit will bring together representatives from the Department of War (DoW), Military Services, Federal Government, industry, and academia to examine the deployment and integration of resilient, mission-ready microgrids across defense installations and critical infrastructure.

Taking place in Washington, D.C., the summit will address technologies and approaches supporting energy resilience, including 5G-enabled microgrid controls, energy storage prediction tools, operational technology cybersecurity, and nuclear power for defense microgrids.

The event is structured in a town-hall format, with attendees able to hear from decision makers and participate in discussions covering microgrid deployment, energy resilience initiatives, mission assurance, and critical infrastructure requirements.

Microgrids & Energy Resilience

When is the Microgrids & Energy Resilience Summit?

The Microgrids & Energy Resilience Summit will take place November 4-5, 2026 in Washington, D.C.

The two-day program will bring together military, government, industry, academic, utility, and research stakeholders working across microgrid and energy resilience programs.

Themes

The 2026 program will examine the role of advanced microgrids in supporting energy resilience and mission requirements. Topics include accelerating the deployment of resilient microgrids at DoW installations and examining lessons learned from existing military microgrid projects.

Sessions will also consider 5G-enabled wireless control for resilient power, utility and developer approaches to mission-critical microgrids, and energy requirements across Army and Navy installations.

Additional discussions will cover nuclear power as a firm power source for defense microgrids, including Project Pele, alongside AI-driven energy storage prediction tools and operational technology cybersecurity frameworks for contested environments.

What’s On?

The summit will feature presentations and discussions led by representatives from across the Army, Navy, Air Force, defense organizations, federal government, industry, utilities, research organizations, and academia.

The agenda is set to examine approaches to designing, financing, procuring, deploying, and operating resilient energy systems. It will also cover utility and developer strategies for delivering mission-critical microgrids through Utility Energy Service Contracts (UESCs) and Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).

Attendees will hear lessons from military installations and examine technologies including nuclear firm power, wireless microgrid controls, energy storage prediction systems, and cybersecurity approaches for operational technology.

The summit will also provide opportunities for attendees to raise questions and participate in discussions with speakers and other participants.

Government Attendance

The summit is complimentary for DoW and Federal employees and is described as an educational and training forum. Industry and academia attendees are charged an admission fee.

The event is closed to press and recordings are not permitted.
