Beyond Base Single is a self-contained handheld controller for the Beyond 12 flight termination system. Paired with one airborne unit by default, it enables an operator to issue a manual termination command through a deliberate button sequence that can be entered rapidly in an emergency without being triggered by an accidental single press. The included neck strap keeps the controller immediately accessible throughout flight operations.
An integrated Iridium modem and passive helical antenna provide direct satellite communications with Beyond 12, enabling termination independently of the distance between the operator and aircraft. Front-panel LEDs display battery condition, satellite connection and the heartbeat messages received from the airborne unit, giving the operator a continuous indication of system status. The controller only needs to be held upright when the satellite link is used to transmit the emergency command.
Beyond Base Single is available with an optional M8 secondary-link connection for an external radio, and can also be augmented with an internal radio.
