APEX Deep from Teledyne Webb Research is an autonomous profiling float designed to collect water-column information across remote ocean environments. The platform builds on the APEX family, with more than 10,000 units deployed and extensive use within the international Argo program. It provides a low-cost means of acquiring oceanographic measurements without continuous vessel support and can be deployed across a broad range of offshore locations.
The float is supplied ready for deployment and incorporates automated self-test software to streamline preparation before launch. Iridium telemetry with GPS supports position reporting and remote transfer of collected measurements, enabling data to be returned during autonomous operations. Teledyne Webb Research also provides support throughout profiling-float deployment programs.
