The Quantum TMR 200° Arc Position Sensor by Reventec is a non-contact, solid-state sensor designed to deliver reliable and accurate tow-angle data, originally developed for the rigors of America’s Cup racing. Leveraging advanced Tunnelling MagnetoResistive (TMR) technology, this sensor provides a programmable ±100° arc range with exceptional ±0.5% reading accuracy and a rapid 5 kHz output rate. Encased in a hard-anodized aluminum housing and IP67-rated, it withstands corrosive marine environments, harsh weather, and measures consistently through up to 20 mm of non‑ferrous material, while requiring no mechanical maintenance.
Engineered for seamless integration, the onboard CPU generates a 12-bit analog VDC signal for direct connection to data systems. Resistant to magnetic field fluctuations, temperature extremes (–40 °C to +125 °C), and marine shock, the device offers customization in sensing range, connector type, and housing. It’s an ideal solution for demanding maritime applications, including tow vessel dynamics, unmanned surface vehicle (USV) control systems, and other angle-sensitive marine platforms.
