The DA 50 EFI UAV Engine from HFE International is a 50 cc engine featuring an electronic fuel injection system for consistent fuel delivery and ignition timing in varied operating conditions. A magnet assembly in the prop hub allows for quick manual starting, and the engine control module operates from a single 3-cell LiPo battery of 1500 mAh or greater capacity. At full throttle, the system draws only 12 W (1 A). The DA 50 EFI has been tested from sea level to 10,000 ft and from 10 °F to 120 °F.
Electrical integration options include a 200 W power management unit (PMU) with two configurable outputs, and a 500 W starter-alternator that drives directly from the crankshaft. The 500 W PMU features an integrated starter controller for remote starting and provides outputs of 24–28 VDC at up to 350 W, 12–15 VDC at up to 108 W, and 4.8–8 VDC at up to 42 W. All systems are compatible with LiIon, LiPo, LiFePO4, SLA, NiCad, NiMH, and lead acid batteries, with a 24 V option available for the 200 W PMU.
