LOCTITE® 648 is a green, low-viscosity retaining compound engineered for high-strength bonding of close-fitting cylindrical components. Its single-part anaerobic formulation cures between fitted metal surfaces and can be used on both active metals, such as mild steel, and passive materials including stainless steel and plated finishes. The compound also tolerates light contamination from cutting, lubricating, anti-corrosion, and protective oils, reducing the need for primer or cleaning in suitable applications.
Designed for assemblies exposed to shock, vibration, and elevated temperatures, LOCTITE® 648 is suitable for securing gears and sprockets on gearbox shafts as well as rotors on electric motor shafts. It offers strong oil resistance, temperature capability up to 180°C (355°F), and UV fluorescence to assist inspection during quality-control processes.
