150WXRS WeatherStation® Instrument

Airmar’s 150WXRS WeatherStation® Instrument combines rain sensing with multi-parameter weather measurement in a compact unit designed without moving components. Its acoustic rainfall sensor determines precipitation intensity, total accumulation, and event duration by detecting the impact energy of individual drops striking the instrument’s upper sensing surface. This approach avoids the collection mechanisms used by tipping-bucket and weighing systems, reducing exposure to clogging, debris-related obstruction, and routine emptying or cleaning. The instrument also incorporates ultrasonic apparent wind-speed and direction measurement, along with air-temperature, barometric-pressure, and relative-humidity sensing.

An integrated compass enables wind information to be referenced against magnetic north, while onboard GPS provides time-stamping and supports correction for the difference between magnetic and true north. The combination of non-mechanical rain detection, ultrasonic wind sensing, and a UV-stabilized compact enclosure is intended to minimize servicing requirements and associated ownership costs compared with traditional weather-measurement equipment. For unmanned-system installations requiring continuous environmental data, the 150WXRS provides multiple meteorological measurements from a single rugged sensor package.
