Autonomous Ground Vehicles
Discover cutting-edge solutions from leading global suppliers
Overland AI® has introduced IBEX, a fully Autonomous Ground Vehicle (AGV) designed to navigate complex terrain independently and selected by the U.S. Marine Corps for integration into its Marine Air Defense Integrated System (MADIS).
The platform is built around the chassis, engine, and drivetrain of the Polaris MRZR, a vehicle already fielded, fueled, and maintained by the military. IBEX shares parts and fuel compliance with the MRZR and is designed to be V-22 transportable. It has a payload capacity of 2,000 pounds and can operate autonomously at speeds exceeding 35 mph. On a single tank of diesel or JP-8, the vehicle has a cruising range of 250 miles at 20 mph, while its 5 kW of export power supports multiple payloads in energy-constrained forward locations.

Unlike vehicles that require remote control or teleoperation, IBEX is designed to navigate Denied, Degraded, Intermittent, and Limited (DDIL) environments independently. The platform uses Overland AI’s OverDrive® software stack, OverWatch user interface, and SPARK hardware infrastructure to perceive and navigate difficult terrain.
Greg Okopal, co-founder and chief operating officer of Overland AI, commented, “We pride ourselves on developing technology that is informed directly by the warfighter. IBEX is a new platform built on the MRZR’s proven chassis, engine, and drivetrain, so it can be deployed on day one and maintained with the parts and fuel units already have.”
The U.S. Marine Corps selected IBEX for integration into MADIS to strengthen the Counter-Unmanned Aircraft System (Counter-UAS) platform’s lethality, sustainability, and survivability.
IBEX joins ULTRA™ in Overland AI’s AGV lineup, drawing on the company’s existing autonomy technology, which has been field-proven through work with the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Special Operations Command (SOCOM), and Department of War research laboratories. The underlying autonomy stack has previously supported resupply, Counter-UAS, breaching, and electronic warfare missions.
Beyond transportation, Overland AI is positioning its AGVs as distributed nodes for power, communications, and computing. The company envisions these vehicles operating at scale to provide energy, connectivity, and processing capabilities at the forward edge of the battlefield.
