Advanced battery technology company Sila Nanotechnologies has secured $300 million in a private equity funding round to accelerate domestic production of its silicon-carbon anode materials and expand its gigascale manufacturing footprint in Washington State.
The investment round was led by Atreides Management and Sutter Hill Ventures, with participation from 8VC, Bessemer Venture Partners, Matrix Partners, funds and accounts advised by T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc., and other existing and new investors. The capital will support a planned Phase 2 expansion at Sila’s facility in Moses Lake, Washington, alongside accelerating the production of its Titan Silicon silicon-carbon anode technology.
The expansion addresses key vulnerabilities in domestic technology supply chains, where heavy foreign dependence poses risks to economic stability and national security. China currently controls more than 90% of anode material processing and over 80% of global battery cell production, leaving American manufacturers across sectors such as electric vehicles, space, defense, artificial intelligence, electronics, drones, and sensors exposed to potential supply disruptions, trade disputes, and export restrictions.
To counter these single points of failure, Sila’s silicon-carbon anode technology offers a 20% to 40% increase in energy density compared to traditional graphite. This advance enables batteries to be smaller, lighter, and capable of ultra-fast charging while pairing American intellectual property with gigascale domestic manufacturing.

After completing construction and beginning operations in fall 2025, Sila is currently ramping production at its 160-acre Moses Lake site. Engineered as a first-of-a-kind silicon anode plant, the facility is designed to scale from an initial Phase 1 capacity of 2 GWh up to 250 GWh over the next five years, positioning it to become the largest anode production facility in the world while creating hundreds of good-paying jobs in Washington State.
