Joint field testing conducted with an Armed Forces unit has confirmed the heavy-load transport and towing capabilities of Abris‘ UNEX Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) under operational field conditions.
During the evaluation, the UNEX UGV successfully towed a D-30 howitzer weighing 3.2 tonnes while simultaneously transporting a 1.2-tonne payload on board. This dual capability highlights the system’s capacity to relocate heavy artillery and essential supplies within a single integrated maneuver, significantly reducing the secondary vehicles and logistics personnel required in combat support roles.
The UNEX UGV is a STANAG-certified, all-terrain amphibious platform with a dry weight of 2,200 kg and a maximum standalone payload capacity of 1,700 kg. Powered by a 78 kW battery system delivering up to six hours of operational autonomy, the vehicle achieves speeds of up to 20 km/h on land and 5 km/h in water. Its chassis features 600 mm of ground clearance and a 40-degree gradeability, enabling navigation across mud, snow, ice, and obstacles up to one meter high.
To support operations in high-risk environments, the vehicle utilizes a silent electric drive and ultra-low-pressure tires engineered to minimize signatures and reduce the risk of triggering pressure-sensitive explosives.
The platform incorporates semi-autonomous and follow-me navigation modes alongside an open architecture that supports multiple communications methods and radio networks over a control radius exceeding 10km. Modular equipment options allow the vehicle to be reconfigured for a range of operational roles, including combat logistics, casualty evacuation, reconnaissance, counter-IED, and mine clearance.
