The UNEX Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV), developed by ABRIS DG, has been selected as a winner of the US Army XTech Edge Strike Ground Competition after two weeks of field trials in Vilseck, Germany.
The competition, hosted by the 2nd Cavalry Regiment between 3 and 13 March 2026, began with 170 companies submitting white papers. Following a down-selection process, ABRIS DG and its US partner, Mountain Horse LLC, were among 17 finalists invited to demonstrate their technology. The UNEX platform was evaluated in various operational scenarios, including the towing of Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTVs) and the deployment of remote First Person View (FPV) drones.
Designed for high-risk operations in complex terrain, the UNEX UGV is an electrically driven, fully amphibious platform. It features a modular architecture that supports a payload capacity of up to 1,700 kg and the ability to negotiate obstacles up to 1 m high. During the evaluation, the system demonstrated operability from a Ground Control Station at extended distances.
Juandré de Bruyn, CEO of ABRIS DG, commented, “Our unmatched mobility, partnered with interoperability with US Army TAK systems, sets us apart. Being selected by the US Army enters ABRIS DG into a new and exciting era.”
Andrew Hunter, Director of Business Development, added, “We would like to thank our partners Mountain Horse Solutions LLC, XTech, G-TEAD & the 2nd Cavalry Regiment for all of their support over the competition.”
The selection places the UNEX UGV on the Global Tactical Edge Acquisition Directorate (G-TEAD) Marketplace with A 10-year contract with Mountain Horse Solutions LLC, which allows for streamlined procurement of the modular platform and its integrated systems.
