Aeva has announced the launch of Aeva Omni, a wide-view short-range 4D LiDAR sensor designed to provide environmental awareness for physical AI applications.

Aeva Omni 4D LiDAR Introduced for Short-Range Physical AI

Developed in collaboration with LG Innotek, the sensor is intended for use in autonomous vehicles, drones, defense, warehouse automation, and smart infrastructure. LG Innotek is providing hardware integration, manufacturing, and quality assurance for the system. The hardware is built on Aeva’s Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) technology, which allows the sensor to detect both velocity and position simultaneously while remaining immune to interference from sunlight or other LiDAR signals.

The sensor features a panoramic 360-degree horizontal and a 90-degree vertical field of view, enabling full-scene coverage for near-field detection and obstacle avoidance. Measuring 85mm in diameter, the compact unit offers a range of up to 80 meters and provides per-point velocity data. This capability is designed to help automated platforms reduce blind spots and improve path planning in environments where people and equipment move unpredictably.

Mina Rezk, Co-Founder and CTO at Aeva, stated, “Aeva Omni extends the reach of our chip-based FMCW perception platform into a class of applications where wide-view awareness and reliable 360-degree near range performance in a compact form factor are essential. From autonomous mobile robots and vehicles, to drones and unmanned ground vehicles, and next-generation smart infrastructure, Omni provides a new level of safety and capability by delivering high-resolution perception across an exceptionally wide field of view.

For deployment in harsh conditions, the device is engineered to meet IP68 and IP69K ingress protection ratings, ensuring functionality in rain, dust, fog, and high-pressure wash-down scenarios. The addition of Omni expands Aeva’s existing 4D FMCW portfolio, which includes long-range automotive sensors, creating a unified platform that covers sensing needs from the immediate near-field to ultra-long-range highway distances.

The product will be available for early customer pilots in the second half of 2026, with full production targeted for 2027. Aeva is a Nasdaq-listed company specializing in next-generation sensing and perception systems, while LG Innotek serves as an affiliate of the LG Group focused on mobility sensing solutions.
