Discover cutting-edge solutions from 10 leading global suppliers
Hoverfly Technologies has partnered with BlueHalo to integrate their Titan-SV passive RF sensing solution onto its Blue List Certified Spectre TeUAS, enhancing Counter-Unmanned Aerial System (C-UAS) capabilities with advanced signal detection and threat monitoring.
This collaboration brings together BlueHalo’s expertise in passive RF sensing with Hoverfly’s tethered drone technology, creating a powerful solution for persistent, real-time situational awareness in defense operations.
Bruce Tuftie, Chief Strategy Officer of Hoverfly Technologies, said, “As unmanned technology continues to evolve, so do the challenges associated with countering adversarial drone threats on the modern battlefield. The proliferation of low-cost, easily accessible unmanned systems has created an urgent need for advanced Counter-UAS tools capable of detecting, tracking, and neutralizing potential threats.”
BlueHalo’s Titan-SV offers 360° passive surveillance, effectively identifying and geolocating electromagnetic signals without emitting detectable RF energy. This capability significantly boosts the Spectre TeUAS, which provides a stable 200 ft platform with zero RF emissions, ensuring stealth and operational security. The integration of Titan-SV on Spectre sets a new standard in passive electronic warfare (EW) and signals intelligence (SIGINT), delivering critical intelligence to military and security personnel.
Recent tests with the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD R&E) demonstrated the system’s robustness, flying under harsh conditions such as heavy rain and 25 mph winds. Despite these challenges, the Spectre TeUAS effectively mitigated tree and terrain interference, extending the range of Titan-SV’s passive RF sensing and successfully detecting Group 1-3 UAS at longer distances. These results underscore the resilience of the system and its potential for real-world applications.
While this integration marks an important milestone in the evolution of Counter-UAS technology, further optimization and testing are still underway to fully refine the solution for operational deployment. The increasing use of complex RF-based threats highlights the urgent need for passive, persistent Counter-UAS systems. By combining Hoverfly’s reliable TeUAS platform with BlueHalo’s Titan-SV, this partnership provides an innovative, force-multiplying capability for defense and homeland security missions.
