EPI, a key subsidiary of EDGE Group and a leader in precision engineering for the UAE’s aerospace, defense, and energy sectors, has formalized a partnership with General Atomics-Systems Integration, an affiliate of General Atomics.
The two companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance local aerospace capabilities and strengthen the UAE’s defense manufacturing ecosystem.
The signing took place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre during IDEX 2025, one of the world’s premier defense industry events.
Supported by the Tawazun Council under the Tawazun Economic Program, the collaboration will focus on achieving certification for EPI’s facility as a Part 145 repair center. This process will encompass airworthiness certification, prototype testing, and evaluation to ensure compliance with the highest international standards, reinforcing the UAE’s position as a hub for advanced aerospace engineering.
Michael Deshaies, CEO of EPI, said, “Through this collaboration, EPI will significantly expand its capabilities. This will include the establishment of a state-of-the-art facility to support the production of electromechanical systems.“
General Atomics-Systems Integration Vice President, Scott Sappenfield, added, “Working with EPI will mark a leap forward in the development and manufacturing of this advanced aviation technology,” said General Atomics-Systems Integration Vice President Scott Sappenfield. “We expect to offer safe, affordable, high-performance solutions to replace legacy systems in military and commercial aircraft.”
