Voliro has released the Voliro T Version 5 with advanced software and hardware upgrades designed to meet and exceed the rigorous demands of the NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) industry.

After over five years of intensive development and collaboration with NDT industry experts, the company is now introducing a more robust, reliable, and advanced version.

New 5G connectivity for seamless real-time data transfer

The introduction of a 5G module enables real-time data transfer to and from the Voliro Cloud. This allows health monitoring, proactive maintenance, and effortless software upgrades making inspection data management more efficient. For industries reliant on fast, accurate data, especially in areas like wind farms, offshore rigs, or remote industrial sites this upgrade is essential for boosting proactive maintenance, productivity and flexibility in inspections.

Advanced Motor Control for Enhanced Safety

The flight controller now receives data from the Electronic Speed Controllers (ESCs) to provide early detection of potential motor abnormalities. This added layer of safety ensures that pilot operators can preemptively address problems before they arise, reducing downtime and improving operational efficiency.

New flight controller

With a triple-redundant, thermally controlled IMU and an advanced vibration isolation design, the new flight controller ensures superior processing power for precision and flight stability, even in GPS-denied environments, high-altitude zones, and strong winds. Combined with a new Ethernet interface, this upgrade significantly improves data transmission speed, giving operators more control and enabling seamless workflows during challenging inspections.

New tail motor and tail propeller

The improved tail motor and propeller further boost performance by increasing wind resistance and responsiveness, providing greater precision during demanding maneuvers.

New controller tuning

Enhanced controller tuning enables more direct handling of operator inputs. It also improved the control of stability in turbulent situations, increasing the overall wind performance.

New electronics inside the Voliro T Version 5

A complete overhaul, featuring newly designed PCBs, enhanced antennas, and optimized antenna setups. These enhancements greatly boost system reliability and performance, especially for the FPV (First-Person View) cameras, reducing the risk of video stream interruptions.

Robustified components

Higher-quality materials have been selected, improving durability and steadiness to ensure that the Voliro T is not only better at its job at height but also able to withstand the harsh conditions it often faces, whether it’s inspecting corroded materials, high-temperature infrastructure, or operations in strong wind and high-altitude environments.

  • Stronger and more durable materials for the shell and structural elements
  • Improved design of the leg mounts made of high-impact resistant Polyamide for smooth landings
  • New lightweight LED bumpers designed to withstand high-impact situations
  • Redesign of the camera tower improving video image stabilization during flights
  • Corrosion-resistant Torx screws for easier maintenance and longer lifespan
  • Improved payload bayonet with tighter mechanical tolerances and stiffer materials, resulting in a more reliable connection when attached or removed from a running Voliro T

A Lighter and More Agile Voliro T

In addition to its enhanced internal components, the new Voliro T Version 5 offers longer flight times and better flight dynamics thanks to the following optimizations:

Increased flight time

The overall design is 250g lighter, improving the flight dynamics and increasing the flight time.

Improved Voliro assembly

  • Bumpers: improved locking mechanism for easier assembly and disassembly
  • Tail: more intuitive locking mechanism and stronger lock

The release of the Voliro T Version 5 is said to mark a significant milestone in the evolution of aerial inspections. As industries face more complex challenges ranging from maintaining aging infrastructure to ensuring safety in hazardous environments. The demand for time-efficient, safer, and more reliable inspection solutions will only grow. With Voliro’s continued focus on innovation and technological advancement, the new Voliro T Version 5 is designed to meet these demands and set new standards in the NDT inspection landscape.
