The 136th Canton Fair, scheduled from October 15 to November 4, 2024, in Guangzhou, China will showcase cutting-edge technologies, including unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.

With a focus on developing China’s low-altitude economy, the event is expected to feature major advancements in urban air mobility.

Highlighting Unmanned and Low-Altitude Innovations

The China Import and Export Fair, commonly known as Canton Fair, will be displaying innovations in unmanned technologies as part of its growing emphasis on the “low-altitude economy.” Companies like EHang are leading the charge in showcasing eVTOLs for passenger transport, logistics, and more, aiming to transform how cities approach air mobility. The fair will host thousands of exhibitors, including those pioneering air taxis, drones, and autonomous vehicles.

Showcasing Global Innovation & Sustainable Commerce

Thought to be the world’s largest trade exhibition, Canton Fair will continue its legacy of connecting global businesses while championing sustainable innovation. Spanning 1.55 million square meters, the 136th Canton Fair will bring together more than 28,000 exhibitors, showcasing over one million new products.

In a bold commitment to environmental stewardship, half of the exhibited products will feature green technologies and low-carbon manufacturing processes, reflecting the fair’s dedication to sustainable global trade.

The exhibition will feature 13 comprehensive categories, encompassing everything from cutting-edge Electronics & Appliances to innovative Manufacturing solutions, and from contemporary Fashion to sustainable Building & Furniture.

A highlight of this year’s event is the specialized Robotics, UAV, UGV & Drones section, scheduled during Phase One (October 15-19, 2024), showcasing the latest advancements in autonomous technology.

Phase One – 15th to 19th October

During Phase One robotics, UAVs, UGVs, and drones will be on display, with exhibitors highlighting new developments in automation and mobility. These unmanned systems, set within China’s drive to open low-altitude airspace, will play a significant role in sectors like logistics, smart cities, and emergency services.

Guangzhou’s goal to establish 100 takeoff and landing spots by 2027 as part of its low-altitude infrastructure plan aligns with China’s broader efforts to accelerate the development of unmanned systems and eVTOL technologies, creating a robust platform for urban and cross-border air mobility.

Online Capabilities

Understanding the importance of digital connectivity in today’s business landscape, the Canton Fair has enhanced its online platform with advanced features including:

  • Sophisticated supplier-buyer matchmaking systems
  • Real-time messaging capabilities
  • Streamlined platform services
  • Seamless digital-physical integration

The fair expects to welcome buyers from over 200 countries, underscoring Canton Fair’s role in fostering international business relationships and driving economic growth.
