The General Oceans Academy is a collection of professional programs designed to nurture the leaders of tomorrow. Launched at this year’s Oceanology International, it offers opportunities to see, learn and own a part of General Oceans’ future whilst building a career within underwater tech.
It also seeks to recognise and champion high performing individuals whilst offering exciting, international and impactful professional opportunities within General Oceans.
The Academy will be launched in stages and is structured around a number of pillars, each with programs targeted towards a specific stage in a person’s career:
GO Explore – Aimed at those starting a career in underwater technology as University or School leavers. Ideal for those who are keen to learn new skills and have a desire to lead an exciting and adventurous career. Through the General Oceans operating companies, this program gives the opportunity to explore the underwater tech industry while training through internships, work experience and apprenticeships in fields such as Engineering, Production, Sales, Customer Service and more.
GO Experience – For new and existing General Oceans team members, this program standardises the approach to onboarding, secondments, talent exchanges and the overall harbouring of the global power of the group. Go Experience will help give exposure to something new, whether it’s the initial onboarding, secondments to other group companies or knowledge sharing projects. This collection of internal programs promotes high standards of employee engagement within our companies. – This program is coming soon and will go live later in the year.
GO Faster – A fast-track management program for internal and external candidates. Go Faster is a specific fast track program for high potential individuals who will shape the General Oceans leadership of tomorrow. General Oceans are seeking out talented people (with a focus on Engineers) who have the desire and aptitude to be the next industry experts, developing a career path towards executive management. With involvement in global projects, mobility and a sense of adventure are essential. Applications will open at Oceanology in March 2024.
GO Further – GO Further is the collective term for General Oceans’ internal development programs. This is everything from learning on the job to developing a new skill, professional education, management development and even the dreaded compliance training. Working with the group companies, General Oceans will continue to expand the portfolio of development opportunities, better utilising the knowledge and talent already within. – This program is coming soon and will go live later in the year.
Each day at Oceanology, General Oceans will run information sessions about the Academy, have Academy representatives available to review CVs and discuss the application process. Beyond Oceanology, they have a great deal of information about the academy available online and are happy to speak with potential applicants to give more information.
General Oceans hope to make the Academy a prestigious group of programs which offer genuine career advancement for the hardest working, most innovative people in the industry. By launching at Oceanology, candidates will get a chance to see General Oceans in action: all companies in once place, working together and celebrating the collective General Oceans spirit.
