D3 has introduced its next generation of rugged camera modules developed to meet the requirements of multi-camera autonomous and industrial embedded vision applications.

The DesignCore Discovery Series and DesignCore Velocity Series of off-the-shelf cameras have been redesigned to maximize image quality, with tuning optimized for AI out-of-the-box in addition to optics that improve signal with higher resolving power and wider apertures.

Each series features wide, medium, and narrow field of view lens options designed for performance-critical applications in autonomous machines, robotics and industrial sensing.

Produced in the US at D3’s integrated on-shore facility, all camera modules come pre-configured for D3’s range of leading NVIDIA, Texas Instruments, and Intel processing platforms while maintaining industry-standard compatibility over FPD-Link III, GMSL2 and MIPI CSI-2 interfaces. Standardized offerings in the expanded lineup are designed for rapid prototyping with an architecture that scales into customized Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) units.

The flagship camera in the DesignCore Discovery Series features a Sony IMX390 image sensor, with High Dynamic Range (HDR), LED flicker mitigation and frame sync support that results in high quality images even in dynamic lighting conditions.

The flagship camera in the DesignCore Velocity Series camera features an onsemi AR0234 image sensor, which utilizes a global shutter and high-speed frame rates to deliver superior image quality in the toughest moving scenes.

Both series include a ruggedized PRO lineup featuring premium lenses, lens-specific image science tuning, and IP67 ingress protection.

“The Discovery and Velocity Series are the result of deep listening with users translated into targeted performance improvements,” said Francis Pellegrino, Vision Systems Product Line Manager at D3. “Uncompromising image quality combined with D3’s new onshore manufacturing advantage in Rochester, NY, the world’s focal point of optics, secures a unique position for us to make products people love that scale into solutions for the world’s toughest problems.”
