GPASEABOTS has received the Innovative SME seal, created and promoted by the Ministry of Science and Innovation.

The badge is awarded to those companies with a team of up to 250 employees that meet any of these three requirements: having received public funding for research, development and innovation (R + D + I) projects; having demonstrated their innovative nature through their activity (for example, by filing a patent); or having proven their innovation capacity through any of the three official certifications provided for this purpose. In the case of GPASEABOTS, the company obtained funding from the Center for Industrial Technical Development (CDTI), a public business entity.

The awarding of the seal, which is valid for three years, allows GPASEABOTS to be incorporated into a registry of innovative companies. This achievement is said to highlight the company’s activity and projects the company name into the market. This directory of companies, created by the Ministry of Science and Innovation, is online and freely accessible to the public.

This is the fourth GPAINNOVA firm to obtain the Innovative SME seal, after Steros GPA Innovative, DLyte dry electropolishing technology and POWER INNOTECH, a Catalan start-up dedicated to high-performance electronic solutions and acquired by the group in December 2020.

Solutions for the exploration and conservation of the aquatic environment

Founded in June 2019, GPASEABOTS focuses its activity on the development of technologies for the exploration and preservation of the aquatic environment, such as USV (unmanned surface vehicles or unmanned surface vehicles) or buoys. Just a few months after its creation, it was awarded the Sustainability Award at the 2019 Design and Innovation Out of Series Awards.

In 2020, GPASEABOTS installed more than a hundred buoys to study the coastal waters of Catalonia and Castellón – in the municipalities of Calella de Mar, Mataró, Sitges, Calafell, L’Ampolla and Vinaròs – and launched the SB 100 PRO model, a Multipurpose water drone for all kinds of tasks in sheltered waters. Depending on the integrated instruments or accessories, this USV can carry out work in the fields of hydrology, water analysis, research, marine salvage, surveillance and cleaning. Likewise, the use of these drones allows access to restricted areas that may be difficult to navigate or dangerous. In addition, during the past year, GPASEABOTS reached its first commercial agreements and closed its first international sales.

The company plans to present a project before the end of the year, which pertains to water cleaning.
