Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Worldwide to Offer Online UAS Course

Embry-Riddle AircraftEmbry-Riddle Aeronautical University has announced that it will be offering a free course covering key concepts related to unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) via its Worldwide campus. Embry-Riddle Worldwide is a global network of more than 130 learning centres in the United States, Europe, Canada, the Middle East, and Asia, offering the option of online courses.

The massive open online course (MOOC), “Unmanned Aerospace Systems (UAS) – Key Concepts for New Users,” runs from Jan. 11 to 24, 2016. Registration opens Dec. 8.

The increasing popularity of recreational drones has created new safety challenges within the National Airspace System (NAS). Led by Embry-Riddle Worldwide faculty, the MOOC will address airspace issues – along with UAS basics, UAS operating environment and the do’s and don’ts of UAS / recreational drone operations.

MOOCs are another way Embry-Riddle Worldwide provides flexible instruction to students around the world. These courses let students work on assignments based on their own schedules and offer an online learning platform that encourages student interaction through discussion boards and social media platforms such as Twitter.
