TeXtreme has announced a new addition to their line of Spread Tow products, wider UD tapes. The new version of TeXtreme® Spread Tow UD tapes will further broaden the ability to optimize Spread Tow solutions for new applications across the aerospace, marine and industrial markets.
TeXtreme Spread Tow UD tapes can be highly tailored to meet specific needs for example thickness; they can be significantly thinner than conventional carbon tapes. TeXtreme UD tapes have a uniform distribution of the fiber across the width of the tapes, which improves the mechanical performance and are currently made up to 600mm.
Andreas Martsman, Vice President of Oxeon, states, “We are very pleased to introduce again another innovative extension of the TeXtreme product family. We believe that this development brings a great value to our customers as we will be able to further optimize the reinforcement solution for each application. I am sure this new TeXtreme® version will also unveil new opportunities in an even broader spectrum of applications.”
Even though the new UD tapes are wider, they are still offering the same characteristics as the other Spread Tow reinforcements in the TeXtreme product range. By using the wide UD tapes in combination with the other products in the TeXtreme® family when performing calculations and simulations, optimized reinforcement solutions can be offered for enabling customers to reduce weight, increase stiffness and strength, improve impact as well as dampening performance of composites parts.
Andreas Martsman continues, “We work in close cooperation with our clients, giving them technical support, all the way from selecting the optimal reinforcement structure to make it work in the manufacturing process of the end application. In this work we saw a huge demand for wider UD tapes and decided to invest and develop this new technology. This product form further strengthens our position as market leaders in the Spread Tow category of reinforcements and will give us an even greater flexibility to meet all customer needs”.
