VITEC, a worldwide leader in advanced video solutions, has announced the release of MGW Nano TOUGH – its new ruggedized full-motion-video (FMV) encoding and streaming appliance for military forces and government agencies. The MGW Nano TOUGH is a compact, power efficient ISR encoder with comprehensive support for metadata; CoT, KLV and STANAG.

The MGW Nano TOUGH Encoder boasts advanced HD/SD H.264 compression, low latency streaming and MISP/compliant metadata processing for manned and unmanned ISR applications. The ruggedized solid state appliance weighs less than 2lbs and requires only 10W power for 1080p streaming.

MGW Nano TOUGH is designed for harsh conditions and conforms to the most demanding mechanical, electrical and environmental standards including MIL-STD 810F, MIL-461F, MIL-STD704 and water resistance IP-56 standards. The unit also includes advanced capabilities such as real-time AES encryption and hardware-based motion stabilization for producing superb imagery.

“VITEC’s IP encoders are widely used for streaming video from manned and unmanned military platforms”, said Philippe WETZEL, CEO of VITEC. “The MGW Nano TOUGH demonstrates our commitment to producing best-in-class products for mission-critical applications.”

“MGW Nano TOUGH sets a high bar for small ruggedized ISR encoders” said Eli Garten, VP of Product Management for VITEC. “With weight under 2 pounds, only 10 Watts power for low latency 1080p streaming, MISP-compliant metadata and advanced motion stabilization – this new appliance supports a wide range of situational awareness applications more effectively than any other rugged encoder in use today.
