Nuwaves Engineering Showcases New Linear Bidirectional Power Amplifier Module at AUVSI 2013

NuPower Xtender Linear Bidirectional S-Band AmplifierNuWaves Engineering of Middletown, Ohio, an international Radio Frequency (RF) and Embedded Systems solutions provider, is exhibiting its high-performance, miniaturized RF products and is also demonstrating the first linearized model to come from the company’s new NuPower Xtender(TM) series of bidirectional power amplifiers at the 2013 Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) Unmanned
Systems exhibition.

Operating from 2200 to 2500 MHz, the NuPower Xtender Linear Bidirectional S-Band PA is capable of generating over 10 Watts of peak saturated power, or approximately 6 Watts of average power with integrated analog pre-distortion linearization technology to help extend the range of advanced communication systems. With linearization the amount of power “back-off” required to facilitate the use of data links featuring amplitude-modulated waveforms, such as Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM), is greatly reduced, leading to significantly greater power efficiencies. The Xtender is both compact and rugged with a nickel-plated aluminum chassis that occupies only 3.00” x 2.00” x 1.15” (6.9 cubic inches) and weighs less than 6 ounces, making it ideal for integration into small platforms, such as Group/Tier 2 and 3 Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGV), etc.
