RoY Aircraft & Avionics Simulation (RAAS) and Legion Training & Simulation (LTS) are presenting this week, at the 50th Paris-Le Bourget International Air Show, a groundbreaking demonstration of their Modeling, command and training suite for UAV systems.

The demo powered by SILKAN TUTOR infrastructure showcases the first modular and scalable training environment designed to reduce the price and complexity of training pilots and sensor operators of UAVs. The demo is hosted by SILKAN as part of Showcase Canada (Hall 3 – E79)

“Our low cost, high-fidelity Modeling & Simulation Suite named VENOM breaks grounds on many fronts”, stated Stephane Roy, President and Founder of RAAS. RAAS and LTS launched the Virtual ENvironment Operations Module (VENOM) initiative at the beginning of the year. Co-designed by RAAS and LTS, VENOM represents a unique, full spectrum simulation training suite for the Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) market.

“VENOM’s low cost, open architecture can match any size, type or class of UAS and sensor payload, and custom features include a Ground Control Station (GCS), and a comprehensive mission planning capability’’, added Mr. Roy. RAAS aerodynamic models allow for precise modeling of all aspects of UAS platforms, including aerodynamic performance characteristics, propulsion, Automatic Flight Control System (AFCS), navigation, guidance, Global Positioning and Inertial Navigation (GPS/INS), as well as malfunctions.

SILKAN SOLUTIONS Inc. has been tasked with the integration of RAAS and LTS product with new high performance simulation capabilities for accurate representation of the synthetic environment to support UAS operations training. With unmatched expertise in simulation and numerical methods, Big Data and parallel computing architectures, the Canadian subsidiary of the SILKAN Group has quickly established itself as a leader in integrating ‘best-in-breed’ technology into high assurance computing solutions, connecting computer and information systems to the physical world. Building on its pioneering work in embedded simulation, SILKAN expands its boundaries through joint development and licensing partnerships, improving its geographical presence and improving the quality and responsiveness to market opportunities in Aerospace & Defense.

SILKAN Group has also set up a booth in the ASTech section (Hall 4 – C135), to showcase its TUTOR platform, designed as a development and test certification environment that enables rapid development and deployment of embedded systems through model-based simulation and implementation of real-time communication in hardware.
