Deepwater Horizon spill response (PHYS)

Scout Exploration Inc. has acquired the rights to an unmanned airborne, oil spill response system currently under development at IDS Offshore Inc., of St. John’s, Newfoundland.

Faster and more effective oil spill response represents an immanent challenge and opportunity for the oil exploration, production and transportation industries. Current methods entail a significant lag prior to deployment of response measures, during which time spill damage can spread exponentially. The unmanned, air deployed SCXN / IDS response systems target this period, and significantly reduce time to containment and oil spill spread.
