Tata Advanced Systems Limited has acquired majority stake in Aurora Integrated Systems Limited.

PXV Law Partners advised AIS while AZB & Partners assisted the in-house legal team of TASL.

AIS develops indigenous technology, manufacturing and integrating state-of-the-art airborne systems with a focus on small Unmanned Aerial Systems.

The company was started by a team of seven graduates from IIT Kanpur involved in developing and manufacturing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) for civil and defense markets. The competencies of AIS encompass Embedded Systems Development, Computer Vision Solutions, Aircraft Design, Network Solutions and Guidance & Control.

AIS is the first company developing UAV technology in India without foreign assistance allowing it to pass on the economic benefits to the consumers.

Incorporated in 2010, Tata Advanced Systems is a fully-owned subsidiary of TATA Sons. The company is a key provider of support in technology sourcing and management, production of defence technology, obsolescence management, project execution and life-cycle support.

The main focus areas are Defence, Aerospace, Surveillance technologies, Marine Applications, Aero-Structures and Homeland Security among others. Tata Advanced Systems is both a holding and an operational company.

Recently in the space, Piramal Enterprises acquired 27.83% stake for $7 Mn (R40 Cr) in Bluebird Aero Systems, an Israeli unmanned air systems manufacturer to foray into defense sector; Bharat Electronics Limited has entered into a JV with French defence firm Thales.
