Nicomatic discusses the versatility of the company’s EMM connector range as a robust connection solution for extreme environments, detailing the configuration options available to shield against electromagnetic interference (EMI).
Sensitive missions in challenging environments require protection against EMI. This disruptive force can compromise signal integrity and sound transmission. To combat EMI, shielded micro-connectors are essential.
Introducing EMM Connectors
Nicomatic’s EMM connector range offers a compact solution. With a 1.27 mm pitch design, these connectors provide 20% space savings compared to standard micro-D connectors. They’re also customizable to meet specific needs.
EMM Panel Backshell: Advanced EMI Protection
Nicomatic’s innovative solution for critical applications converts 1.27 mm pitch connectors into 360° shielded panel systems. This protects connector couples from panel to braid.
Being compact and lightweight, the EMM connectors are ideal for weight-sensitive applications like satellites and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The design ensures conductivity even in extreme conditions.
Flexible Configuration Options
The panel side offers 4 to 60 signal contacts in male or female variants.
PCB connectors come with straight-through or SMT contact versions, and a straight-on cable option is available. The backshell side provides male or female options with a 14 to 60 contact range.
Performance Highlights
Nicomatic’s EMM connectors comply with MIL-DTL-83513G and MIL-DTL-55302G standards.
The fixing hardware is designed for 100 mate-unmate cycles without performance loss, while the connectors themselves can withstand 500 plug-unplug cycles. They’re certified for 20g vibration resistance and can endure 96 hours of salt spray exposure.
