Ondas‘ subsidiary Cyberhawk has secured a new multi-year agreement with SSE plc’s electricity network businesses to provide specialist drone inspection and surveying services across Britain’s transmission and distribution infrastructure.

The agreement covers an initial three-year period, with an option to extend for a further two years, and applies to SSEN Transmission and SSEN Distribution. Cyberhawk has also been awarded Lot 2 for offshore wind turbine inspection, extending its work with SSE beyond electricity networks into the company’s offshore renewable energy assets.

The latest award marks Cyberhawk’s third consecutive long-term agreement with SSE, following two previous five-year contracts. The companies have worked together for more than a decade, using drone technology to support the safety, efficiency and quality of electricity network inspection and surveying.

Alongside the new inspection agreement, Cyberhawk has recently renewed its multi-year iHawk as a Service agreement with SSE. The platform provides a central system of record for infrastructure inspections, bringing together imagery, geospatial information and AI-assisted analytics to support asset risk prioritisation, workflow management and operational decision-making.

Chris Fleming, CEO at Cyberhawk, said, “We are extremely pleased to have secured this new agreement with SSE and to continue a relationship that has now spanned more than ten years. The fact that SSE has awarded Cyberhawk a third major long-term agreement, following two previous five-year agreements, is a strong testament to the value and trust we have built together.”

Fleming continued, “SSE’s electricity networks businesses have consistently been one of the UK’s most progressive energy companies when it comes to adopting innovation. We have seen that commitment first-hand through the deployment of drone technology across its networks and, increasingly, through the use of iHawk to turn inspection data into actionable asset intelligence. The addition of offshore wind inspection further demonstrates the breadth of our partnership with SSE. We are proud to continue supporting the safety, resilience and efficiency of its critical energy infrastructure.”

The agreements come as SSE plans to invest £33bn in energy infrastructure by 2030. Cyberhawk’s work with the company now spans electricity transmission and distribution inspections, offshore wind turbine inspection and digital asset intelligence through its iHawk platform.
