NovAtel, an OEM provider of high precision positioning products is adding new capabilities that are tailored to the needs of the Unmanned Industry. NovAtel continues to provide manufacturers of unmanned systems unparalleled excellence enabling precise positioning and manoeuvring, and the accuracy that underpins surveillance, weapon and targeting sub-systems. NovAtel will be exhibiting its military and defense technologies at booth 4029 at AUVSI Unmanned Systems 2013, in Washington, DC from August 12 – 15.

OEM638™ GNSS Receiver

Unmanned systems require reliable, robust position and navigation. This mission-critical capability has been provided by NovAtel for many years and the latest, most capable of the OEM6 series is the OEM638. The 240-channel board tracks all present and upcoming Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) constellations. Using 100 Hz real-time kinematics, OEM638 provides the robust, high-accuracy positioning demanded by an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle’s (UAV) high-dynamic conditions. Synchronized Position, Attitude and Navigation (SPAN) + Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) integration is included on the board.

ProPak6™

Ideal for unmanned aircraft ground stations, ProPak6 is NovAtel’s newest GNSS enclosure product. It’s constructed with an extremely rugged, water resistant IP67 housing that provides standardized software and hardware connections. An optional internal GPRS/HDPS cellular modem is available. This ready connectivity speeds time to market and maximizes user capabilities. ProPak6 also provides robust accuracy outputs from metre to centimetre levels, as required. A dual antenna input option allows for a high accuracy heading solution for ground, marine or airborne platforms.

SPAN-IGM-A1™

For size, weight and power (SWAP) limited applications like UAVs, SPAN-IGM-A1 provides continuous smooth navigation and positioning by combining NovAtel’s OEM615 GNSS receiver card with a Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS) inertial sensor in a single enclosure. NovAtel’s tightly-coupled OEM6 GNSS/INS SPAN engine delivers advanced positioning options such as AdVance® RTK, ALIGN® heading technology and RAIM so that the latest high-performing, high-dynamic UAVs can rely on NovAtel for performance. These SPAN products are ideal for any unmanned applications requiring continuous 3D position, velocity and attitude solution, even through periods of satellite outage.
