Azad System Co, a production branch of Defense Industry Ministry in Azerbaijan recently opened by President Ilham Aliyev, has started production of two UAV systems. The production is a joint venture with Israeli UAS manufacturer Aeronautics Defense Systems.

‘Orbiter’, a mini UAV (MUAV) designed for military and homeland security missions, has a flight time of 4-5 hours and an operating altitude of 4-6Km. ‘Aerostar’, a tactical Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (TUAV) is designed for real-time intelligence gathering. Aerostar boasts a maximum 12 hour flying time at an altitude of up to 10Km. Both aircraft will be manufactured and assembled in a facility in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Aeronautics Defense Systems is the third-largest Israeli UAV manufacturer, with five UAV platforms currently available.
