gNext Labs discusses how SYSTRA International Bridge Technologies used the company’s 3D mapping and modeling software technology to evaluate the benefits of digital twins for future bridge construction projects.

gnextlabs-infraestructureOne of the world’s leading engineering and consultancy groups SYSTRA used gNext’s powerful inspection software analytics platform to evaluate the benefits of digital twins for future bridge construction projects.

Specializing in public transport and mobility solutions, SYSTRA collected approximately 10,000 images for the project. The Skydio drone with 3D Scan was used to collect images underneath the bridge, whilst the DJI M300 with a P1 sensor was used to collect the images above the bridge.

Digital benefits

Some of the benefits of going digital to support bridge construction include:

  • Improved project management visibility across all stakeholders
  • Cloud-based team collaboration
  • Project audit tools
  • Change-over-time review in 2D and 3D, for both construction progress monitoring and defect analysis
  • Improved project outcomes

Using digital models to inspect and assess bridge construction reduces risk to personnel safety whilst lowering costs. With an underlying AI (Artificial Intelligence) engine, gNext can provide construction teams with automated assistance in identifying potential features of interest and associated defects.

Digital pre-inspections can examine site areas remotely to more accurately understand which areas need additional support and resources, prior to committing personnel in the field. The cloud-based technology ensures secure access to your project whenever and wherever your team requires it.
