
Micro-Magic Inc. has introduced its latest product—the AC-6 Series high-precision quartz flexure accelerometers, engineered for demanding industrial applications in harsh conditions.
The AC-6 series is suited for sectors such as oil and gas drilling, geophysical exploration, and other environments that push conventional sensor technologies to their limits.
At the heart of the AC-6 is a miniaturized quartz pendulum structure paired with advanced packaging techniques and a specialized circuit design. These accelerometers are ideal for drone application, designed to maintain ultra-stable performance across extreme temperature ranges and high-vibration scenarios.
Key to this performance is user-selectable sampling resistors that allow for finely tuned high-accuracy output. Additionally, integrated temperature sensors can be incorporated to correct for local thermal variations, helping to reduce the influence of environmental conditions on measurement precision.
Traditional accelerometers often suffer from short operational life and performance degradation in high-temperature applications. Micro-Magic addresses this through a gold wire bonding process that links the terminal post directly to a gold-plated film on the quartz pendulum. This technique improves thermal endurance and connection integrity under sustained heat.
The servo electronics are built using a multi-chip module thick-film hybrid integrated circuit process, utilizing a aluminum oxide ceramic substrate and metal gold conductor. This design not only enhances thermal stability but also minimizes long-term drift and error.
During product testing, the high-temperature working environment of petroleum logging was used. Each AC-6 unit underwent a rigorous aging process at 180°C for over 96 hours. This ensured that the accelerometers maintained accuracy and reliability during prolonged operation in extreme heat.
