UMAR (Unmanned Multirotor Aerial Relay) is a tethered UAS designed for seamless integration with naval vessels and mobile platforms. Housed in a rugged containerized enclosure, it offers persistent ISR and communications relay and can be controlled via simple push-button commands for takeoff, altitude adjustments, and landing. It can land on moving platforms at speeds of over 20 mph, dealing with pitching, heaving, and rolling without the need for additional stabilization systems.
The versatile platform can be equipped with a range of payloads, including radio equipment and ISR sensors, and can be deployed at altitudes of up to 500 feet. It has been selected by the US Navy for critical maritime over-the-horizon communications, and offers secure datalink protection against jamming and hacking attacks.
UMAR has been ruggedized to withstand challenging maritime conditions and harsh weather, including rain, snow, salt spray, and extremes of temperature and humidity, and functions reliably in wind speeds of up to 35 knots.
