Percepto, a developer of autonomous inspection and monitoring solutions for critical infrastructure, has introduced its AI-powered emission detector for remote methane detection and compliance reporting at scale.

The company automates Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) surveys using autonomous drones, now enhanced with AI and remote operation capabilities for oil and gas operators. The system’s algorithm detects emissions in real time, improving the efficiency, scalability, and reliability of emissions monitoring.

Designed for enterprise-wide deployment, the AI Emission Detector flags emissions as they occur, helping operators avoid big data bottlenecks during high-frequency OGI inspections with Percepto drones.

The fully autonomous drones capture OGI video during scheduled missions. Percepto’s AI analyzes this footage to detect and flag potential methane emissions. Verified alerts are sent to stakeholders with detailed information, including precise geolocation, timestamps, environmental data, and dwell time—enabling faster, more targeted responses.

The system can identify emissions down to the component level, with field-validated detection capabilities as low as 100g/hr at 90% confidence.

Operational Value

Operators benefit from the ability to investigate issues without deploying field teams, improving safety and reducing operational expenditure. With increased inspection frequency and dependable data, teams can make more informed decisions—whether responding to immediate anomalies or adjusting long-term capital plans.

Simultaneously, the solution supports regulatory compliance. By generating validated reports that align with evolving EPA requirements, Percepto helps operators meet standards and maintain stakeholder confidence, without increasing administrative overhead.

Dor Abuhasira, CEO of Percepto, commented, “The industry has been asking how to scale OGI without scaling field operations. This is the answer. We’re already seeing leading operators use our system to reduce emissions, optimize spending, and take control of their compliance programs—all without adding operational strain.”
