MostaTech has revealed that two units in its family of miniature fiber optic gyro (FOG) inertial measurement units (IMUs) have gained further miniaturization, following growing demand for SWaP-optimized inertial products for unmanned systems.
The company’s U183 FOG IMU now measures ∅46×100 mm, reduced from ∅46×111 mm, while the U123D measures ∅40×90 mm, down from ∅40×100 mm.
These reductions enhance their suitability for applications with stringent space and layout constraints, such as UAVs, USVs, UUVs, and ROVs.
Additionally, significant advancements have been made in magnetic immunity, enhancing the accuracy of both FOG IMUs. Previously, the U123D and U183 units could be equipped with either external or internal magnetic shielding.
The latest variants feature combined internal and external shielding, resulting in two levels of magnetic response: 0.3°/h/Gauss with single shielding and 0.01°/h/Gauss with double shielding.
This improved design ensures uncompromising performance in environments with extremely high magnetic fields.
The U Series FOG IMUs feature low-noise performance, compact size, lightweight design, and minimal power consumption. These IMUs incorporate three of MostaTech’s smallest fiber optic gyros, along with three MEMS/pendulum accelerometers.
